Registration Form

Students must complete the Official Registration Form to participate in the 2024 Zeta Omega Essay Competition.

2024 Essay Prompt:

Propose innovative solutions youth can implement to address social injustice in the United States of America.

Deadline: 

The 2024 Zeta Omega Essay Competition deadline is November 11, 2024, at 5 pm ET.

Guidelines:

Section I - General Rules

  1. Contestants must register to participate in the 2024 Zeta Omega Essay Competition.

  2. Contestants must write an original essay with limited guidance from others.

  3. The Zeta Omega Fatherhood Initiative and Mentoring Committee will have the right to edit, publish, or otherwise duplicate any essay entered into the contest without payment to the author.

  4. Due to the number of entries received, only winners will be contacted with the results.

  5. There is no entry fee for this contest.

Section II - Qualifications for Contestants (Grades 9-12)

  1. The competition is open to all students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District grades 9-12 and students that are residents of Greater Cleveland, Ohio.

  2. Contestants may submit only one essay entry during the competition.

Section III - Contest Rules

  1. Essays must address the official competition prompt.

  2. Essays must be typed in English and double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 font, with 1-inch margins.

  3. Essays must be between 750 and 1000 words.

  4. Any quotations or copyrighted material used in the essays must be identified properly. Failure to identify non-original material will result in disqualification.

Section IV - Judging

  1. Judging will be completed by a panel of qualified Zeta Omega Financial Members and The EEG Foundation.

  2. Judges will not discuss or compare essays and scoring until all essays have been judged.

Section V - Use of Competition Information

All competition entries become the property of the Zeta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation. Zeta Omega FIMC reserves the right to use any information related to the contest, including submissions provided by the contestants, for editorial, marketing, and any other purpose, unless prohibited by law. Participants grant the Zeta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to broadcast, publish, store, reproduce, distribute, syndicate, and otherwise use and exhibit the Submission (along with their names, voices, performance and, or likenesses) in all media now known and later come into being for purposes of trade or advertising without further compensation. Participants represent and warrant that they have the full legal right, power, and authority to grant the Zeta Omega  Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation the foregoing license and if applicable, have secured all necessary rights from any participants in, and contributors to, their Submission to grant such a license. the Zeta Omega  Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation are under no obligation to use any Submission or return the Submissions to participants.

Section VI - Limitations of Liability

By participating in the competition, you agree to release the Zeta Omega  Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, directors, officers, and agents from any liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with your participation in the competition. The Zeta Omega  Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation are not responsible for late, lost, or misdirected email or for any computer, online, telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. If for any reason, the competition is not capable of running as planned, the Zeta Omega  Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The EEG Foundation may cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition.
